Noor Alam from Mongla: A number of environmental groups have staged human chain and protest in Mongla with placards and banners demanding a decision by the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors to announce an incentive package to combat the global corona virus Covid-19. The human chain program was organized by Bangladesh Paribesh Andolan (BAPA), Pashur River Waterkeeper and Waterkeepers Bangladesh on the banks of the Pashur River in the Chila area adjacent to the Sundarbans in Mongla on Saturday morning. During the human chain at 11:30 am on Saturday, environmental activists wanted to “save health for all”, “my money is my future”, “stop coal, stop nuclear”, “just recovery”, “save the Pashur river, save the Sundarbans”, “save from climate warming”. ”Including human chains with placards and banners with various slogans. Convener of Bangladesh Environment Movement (BAPA) Bagerhat District Md. Noor Alam Sheikh presided over the rally. Among others, BAPA leader Geeta Haldar, Nazmul Haque, Pashur River Waterkeeper volunteer Abdur Rashid Hawlader, Kamala Sarkar, Maharoof Billah and others spoke. Speakers at the rally said a study by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) said মহ 150 billion had been allocated for fossil fuels and other polluting industries during the epidemic. Speakers said the G20 summit is awaiting approval of 750 billion euros and hundreds of trillions of dollars of public money to provide coronary incentives. Allocating these funds will affect the world in many ways for at least a decade. Therefore, the speakers called on the G20 to ensure green recovery, green jobs and healthcare for all in allocating funds. The speakers also demanded an end to the use of fossil fuels to protect people, humans and the planet Earth, including the Sundarbans.
