PBA,Desk: Bangladesh Agricultural University Research System (BAURES) honor 11 top researchers on Saturday at Syed Nazrul Islam Conference hall of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh.
Two days long in an inaugural session of the annual workshop on BAU research progress of 2017-18 with a theme ‘Agricultural Innovations for Sustainable Development’ chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof Abdul Mannan attended as a chief guest while Pro-VC Prof Dr Jasimuddin Khan, FAO representative of Bangladesh Mr Robert Douglas Simpson and executive director of Krishi Gobeshona Foundation (KGF) Dr Wais Kabir as a special guest. BAU VC Prof Dr Ali Akbar attended as a chief patron on the program.
Director of BAURES Prof Dr M A M Yahia Khandhoker presided over the program and associate director of BAURES Prof Dr Md Alamgir Hossain spoke welcome speech. Since its establishment in 1984, number of completed projects 2349, ongoing projects 536, foreign projects 25.
BAURES awarded 11 researchers on the basis of h-index score for their contribution in terms of global research impact. They are Prof. Dr. Md. Samsul Alam of Fisheries Biology and Genetics dept, Prof Dr. Saleha Khan of Fisheries Management dept, Dr. Muhammasd Jasim Uddin of Medicine dept, Prof. Dr. Md. Anamul Hoque of Soil Science dept, Prof. Dr. SD Chowdhury of Poultry Science dept, Prof. Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury of Pathology dept, Prof. Dr. Mostafa Ali Reza Hossain of Fisheries Biology and Genetics dept, Prof. Dr. Md Zakir Hossen of Agricultural Chemistry dept, Prof. Dr. Md Romij Uddin of Agronomy dept, Prof. Dr. Md Mohammad Mahfujul Haque of Aquaculture dept and Prof. Dr. Md Mahfujul Haque of Fisheries Management dept.
In chief guest speech Prof Abdul Mannan said, ‘Innovation is a complex process where multiple stakeholders plays different roles. Government and other key stakeholders including civil society, farers’ organizations, research bodies and the private sector, all have role to play in creating an environment that enables innovation in agriculture to flourish and generate solutions. An efficient research system is essential for enhancement of agricultural innovations, which helps to reduce poverty, foster development and stimulate economic growth in Bangladesh.’
About 400 scientific posters will be presented at the Syed Nazrul Islam Conference hall as well as different faculty’s corridor.
