PBA DESK : Awami League (AL) general secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, who was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) after falling sick early today, has been diagnosed with three blocks in his heart.
“A medical board formed for conducting Obaidul Quader’s treatment have identified three coronary artery blockages … One block has already been removed,” said BSMMU vice-chancellor (VC) Dr Kanak Kanti Barua, adding “Quader has been kept under close observation for next 72 hours”.
The VC requested all to avoid unnecessary gatherings at BSMMU for continuing his smooth treatment. AL joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif requested the people of the country to pray for his early recovery. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been enquiring about Quader’s health condition.
He also requested party leaders and workers not to amass at hospital. Earlier, Quader was admitted to BSMMU as he experienced breathing problem after Fazr prayers.
The minister was first taken to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at 8.30am and then shifted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of BSMMU, Senior Public Relation Officer Abu Naser of Roads and Higway Division said.
